Oil tank revision and fuel tap

After a mishap where the cap came off the oil tank at over 100mph, I decided to remake the oiltank.
This time I used an aerosol spray can as the donor container. I recycled a screw cap and BSP threaded fittings.The top and bottom were carefully cut open and parts soldered into place. The top cap is from a gallon tin. The side fittings are for return line plus a breather. The strainer is recycled from a Triumph engine pick-up, araldited to an alloy sleeve and threaded on the lathe. I think it was 14tpi to match the brass BSP fitting which is a standard plumbing item. The tank and strainer as you see them, weigh in the region of 150grams. The oil amount is 400ml all up, making for a handy saving in weight. Castrol R is used for the engine needs and compliments the methanol. It's drained after each meet.

The fuel tap (pictured) replaces the original which started leaking past the spindle. This new one is lathed down from a solid hexagonal brass ball valve. I got it as light as possible but it's about 7grams heavier than the earlier model. However it's bigger in internal diameter and shouldn't vibrate to the "OFF" position as the other was fond of doing. Plastic pushlok fittings along with polyethylene 5/16 air-line will continue to be employed for fuel as before. This fuel line/pushlok combination have been used exclusively since Excaliburs' deployment in Nov2010 without issue.
